Installing Skins
This section teaches you how to
install skin interface for your Winamp player. If your player
interface started to look dull and lifeless, try replacing it
with another one. There are over 10 000 skins interfaces which
can be downloaded directly off the net. Check out the Skin
Archive Links for some useful skin resources.
Winamp's graphical interface is
actually a series of bitmaps that can be easily edited. You can
use any graphic software such as Microsoft Paint, or Paint Shop
Pro to modify the look of your player and even create
your own skins.
First of all, you have to make
sure you have the latest version of Winamp (you have to have at
minimum Winamp 2.04 or higher, although you can still install
new skins in older versions). You can download the latest
version here.
When you have downloaded a skin
file, unzip it into a folder such as Winamp\Skins\{name of your
skin} directory. Then start Winamp, and type ALT+S to bring up
the skin browser, and select the skin. The skin will change in
a few seconds and you will have a brand new skin interface.
